Our New Home - Kitchen Inspiration

If you have been following along on Instagram you probably know, Kyle and I moved from Houston to San Antonio at the beginning of the summer. We have had so much fun exploring and re-learning our home town! We purchased a home in July and are in the process of renovating before we move in. I have already learned so much about the reno process and can't wait to share the whole process with all of you!

We have torn down a wall that separated the family room from the kitchen and also gutted the kitchen. It is one big blank canvas and I can hardly wait to get everything installed-but more on the progress another day. Today I'm sharing our inspiration and design plan for the kitchen.

We want the whole house to be light and airy and are going for a California Casual meets Mid Century vibe. We went with a grayish/putty color on the cabinets to provide just a bit of contrast, white walls/trim/doors, white quartz countertops and simple light fixtures. We are using black hardware and dark grout on the backsplash to create some dramatic (and really pretty) contrast to all of the white. The kitchen is a really small space so we are maximizing storage by building cabinets on the back side of the peninsula (where the counter stools will be) and creating custom pantry cabinets that have pull-out shelves.

I went through thousands of Pinterest images as I was daydreaming about what our future kitchen would look like. Here are some of my favorites that I drew major inspo from.

So many pretty images! It was so hard to make final decisions because there is SO MUCH inspiration out there. I may or may not have lost a lot of sleep over every little detail. But nonetheless, decisions have been made and the cabinets are being built! I will be back soon with a progress post, but until then what do you think? Did I make the right choices?!
